Could fall come sooner?

I went to the Minnesota State Fair (where they have some 500 foods on a stick, including chocolate dipped bacon - gross) the other day with my friend. After we ate some halfways respectable food (gator fries, deep fried mac&cheese on a stick, unfrozen grapes on a stick, cotton candy, chocolate belgian waffle on a stick, etc.) we sat and watched people. I honestly wish I had my camera with me because of some of the priceless outfits you see there. However, almost every girl under the age of 25 seemed to be wearing flip flops, way to short Abercrombie&Fitch shorts, and a Hollister top.

So, ignoring the fact that I was just wearing skinny jeans, a Hurley beater, & my kick ass blue Nikes, I ask what the hecccckkkk? I'm sorry but for serious, what is happening? I felt sick after a while just seeing all these girls dressed exactly the same. And let me just say that not all of them could pull the short shorts off well. And the idea of wearing flip flops to the nasty old state fair is sickening.

Finally this adorable girl skipped by in beaten converse, skinny skinny jeans and a beater (very much like I was wearing, but she looked better). But the most fetching part of her outfit was that she had a bandana in her hair, like a funky headband. That just looked way to stellar for words and I must now pull out my random blue bandana & figure out how she did that.

On another note, school starts in a matter of days and summer has finally decided to start heating up now, right in time for 100-some kids to pack together into a hallway wearing these hugely thick, scratchy polo shirts. Thanks old man summer, way to go. Anyways, just needed to mini-vent about the state fair & the grossness of our uniform shirts in the heat. Lets hope for fall & the cute clothes that come with it!

I'm sorry, but whaaaa?

I'm sorry, but what the heccckkk was Taylor thinking? I love - seriously LOVE - this girl's fashion...most of the time. But this outfit, ensemble, entire look is just....ugh. Let's start at the top:

1. Her hair: She looks bloody gorgeous with it parted to the side. The middle part just makes your head look funky.

2. Her makeup: Drop all that dark eye shadow, please! Lighten up on the foundation and SMILE. Black nail polish can add a funky-rocker edge, but with this particular outfit it's like, blaaah.

3. The jewelry: With a sparkly top and all that black, HUGE diamond necklaces just look tacky and out of place. Replace with something smaller and more innocent.

4. The jacket: Okay, I'll admit that I like the jacket & the popped collar. Just not with that shirt or those pants.

5. The shirt: I like the shirt, too, just not with the jacket or those pants. I've always had a thing for sequins.

6. The...pants?: weird, stretchy, skinny....pants? They're like ski pants. I am utterly confused.

7. The shoes: complete the tackiness of this outfit.

Overall, it's like those 5th graders when they go through the awkward goth phase, except she looks like an old woman while doing it. This outfit makes me want to gag. I will just push it out of my mind and pretend that Taylor still has excellent taste.

So I'm actually fairly proud of this ensemble. I hadn't really planned on modeling, but I was playing with the light for a different photoshoot & wanted to see how movement of hair came out - pretty damn good.

Anyways, so I love suspenders with simple outfits & I was finally able to break out the plaid $5 jacket from H&M because I was finally wearing something plain. Now I just need suspenders that fit. Yeah, those are working for me thanks to safety pins, but in the back the criss-cross is between my shoulder blades. stretchy.

In other news I cannot wait for fall. No, not because of uniforms (die), but because I can finally break out the jackets & blazers, cozy hats, and -drum roll- my new Steve Madden riding boots! They are very similar to wearing a dead cow strapped around your feet, but are absolutely gorgeous & were on sale....oh plus, the size 6 fit my size 4 feet wonderfully. =D

Why did I have to find this? Why? Now I'm just consistently obsessing about how much I want it and wish that the bust/waist was just a few inches smaller. It's not even like it's an amazing piece of clothing or anything....I don't quite understand why I'm infatuated with it so much. But I am. But my bust is only 32", my waist only 26". damnit. emma watson: soccer mum

Don't get me wrong, I love Emma Watson - she's so cute. Her hair & her fashion are (typically) superb. But I must ask: what was she thinking?

This outfit screams stay-at-home soccer mum! I'm not even sure how to best react.

new flash: good bye khaki!

My ridiculous school might let us where black bottoms next year! Yes, as in not khaki every single day. This is terrific because I'm not sure how many more pairs of khaki skinny jeans I can find. Of course they'll have rules on the fitting and such, but I'm still thrilled.

suspenders are not dead

Usually, I don't pay attention to things like suspenders. I love them because they add a nice touch, but I just don't know how to wear them! But then I was flipping through some photos from the TCA & saw Miranda Cosgrove's outfit. I've been dying ever since I saw it. Although it's not exactly the type of event I would've worn the outfit at, those suspenders are just too perfect!

I'm thinking of giving suspenders another go. Anyone know of a store that sells funky suspenders? I have a pair of black ones, but I thought I'd go for something a bit different.

Oh & I was flipping through a magazine (InStyle or Lucky, I believe) & there was this great DIY jeans shorts with suspenders. I want to try that out - they were too cool.
