silence

Day of Silence - April 17, 2009
The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. The deliberate silence of participating students echoes that silence, which is caused by name-calling, bullying and harassment. Ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing on this day. What are you going to do to end the silence?

My friend tried to get our college to participate but since it's a catholic college they try to ignore the LGBT community & therefore won't oblige.

We're all going in with tape over our mouths. It's nice to see someone else cares =)

I now understand why two of my tap class friends weren't talking a couple weeks ago. Thanks!

Too late this year, but next year I hope to participate. Well see how my over-rule-enforcing, slightly conservative yet attempting-to-be-inclusive private school takes it. :)

Cheers for participating in the Day of Silence, I know it's hard but it's nice to know that people out there support the LGBT community. Thank you!
