do you love me?

Happy 4th of July to all of my American friends! It's that time of year for red, white, and blue, grilling, cabin-life, swimming in lakes, fireworks, stripes and stars.... What are everyone's plans for the Holiday weekend?

I celebrated by walking in a parade with one of Minnesota's congress people this morning and tonight I'm off to grill s'mores with an old friend. However, I wanted to make sure to get a post in ahead of time! This outfit is pretty All-American, huh?

These photos are from yesterday, actually. I wore this to class. I'm taking a web design course this summer which is reasonably enjoyable however, they drain all of my tuition money (which p.s. I've taken like $11,000 out on loans for) into airing costs. For whatever reason, my uni thinks that it's much needed to keep the temperature of all the classrooms at about 50 degrees. And so, I dress for the 85 degree weather because I commute and sweat bullets waiting for the bus, but then I get to class and sit there in a little ball freezing and my fingers going numb. So yay, AMERICA! Where we cannot adjust to temperature change because we're so damn dependent on our central cooling. I've started bringing my Grateful Dead blanket to class, sitting at the computer swaddled in the dancing bears for 9 hours a week.

But anyways, this has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING. Personal style blog time commences...now:

When I was in London I was supposed to be meeting my former pastor at Saint Paul's Cathedral at noon. I had nothing to do at the hostel so I decided to leave early and wander about the area. I got off the metro and WHAM, Topshop was right there with giant 50% off posters slapped all over. So I popped over there and did some shopping. I found this crop top there for a few pounds and loved the stripes. It reminded me of France....so I bought it...in London. In London, everyone and their mothers were wearing crop tops. It was such a shock! I see them online all the time, but people in America (or at least the good ole Midwest) really do not wear them. When I wear them, I definitely get looks, because it just isn't a fashion in Minnesota. You really cannot find them in stores here. So I stocked up whilst in London and got like...3. I wish I got more. I love crops, especially since I'm not much for tank tops. Anyways, this is getting boring. Let's move on....

My father took these photos for me. Boyfriend was at work, so my father was the most convenient. Even though he tends to cut off my head. And not focus the camera. And make me do weird poses which I look at afterwards and just discard in a cloud of confused humiliation. I think these turned out alright, though. It's been a while since I've been out taking photos in the alley (I guess I'm not counting the ones from last week for some reason) so I felt a tad out of my comfort zone. Time to get back into blogging!

Anyways, that's all I got for you kids. I cut my bangs back to their former state after growing them out for a couple of months. How boring! I just didn't feel like Chloe without my short alien Betty Page fringe. So, I cut them back and instantly got my mojo back! They just feel so right. However, you all know this if you follow me on Twitter. I feel like half of this post has just been a repeat of my Tweets. But with more detail. And with photos.

Have fun enjoying the holiday to all of my American friends! Stay safe, don't drive drunk, don't let kids play with fireworks (I saw a baby who couldn't even stand up holding a sparkler at the parade today - GULP), and have fun! xx

p.s. make sure to check out this fab post by Miss Tori all about our day together in London!

I love the bangs and your patriotic outfit! I think all American colleges keep the building temperatures at freezing levels in the summer (and fall in Georgia). It's seriously so cold in those rooms! I always have to bring a cardigan even if it's 100 degrees outside. Yet they continue to increase tuition and fees... hm.. Dumb.

You're adorable in the candids on Tori's blog. It's a different side to you than what you post here, and I like it!!

I live in Missouri and we have crop tops /everywhere/. It's kind of ridiculous in a way.

I have been wanting sunglasses like that for sososo long! They are adorable! I can totally relate to the temperature catastrophe- when I came to school in TN I was not prepared for it to be over 100 degrees outside and then drop to seriously 60 degrees inside! A blanket sounds like a good solution though. Additionally, a web design class sounds awesome! Learning more about that stuff is definitely on my list since I've started blogging!

I don't have any true "crop" tops yet, but I have a couple shorter shirts I've started wearing more! Definitely takes some confidence, but if you've got it, why not!

Hope you had a great 4th Chloe!

I love this look. Crop Tops are so not worn in "The Twin Cities".
