ANDIE + DUCKIE

Impromtu blog hiatuses are always a set back, especially when you're on a roll. It seems like 2012 is the year of decision making, as I find myself constantly altering things in my life. Work, friends, relationships, travelling, passions, everything is in constant motion as of late. I'm uneasy about everything and am hoping that it can all stop soon. I hate to say it, but I'm already looking forward to school starting so that I'll have a definite schedule back. Everything is too wishy-washy and out of my control right now.

When life is this confusing, there's nothing better to relate with than '80s John Hughes flicks. Although my personal favourite is "Sixteen Candles" I find that "Pretty in Pink" incorporates teen angst and general confusion much better, and thus fits my mood perfectly right now. I celebrated this stage of my life with some new earrings...
I'm not really one for earrings, or jewelry for that matter, but my love for kitsch rules all...so when I stumbled across these Duckie and Andie earrings on Night Owl Designs' etsy page, I couldn't help myself. I'm the worst because I'm always justifying excuses to buy myself presents, even though I really don't have the money for it. I'm not sure what these earrings were a reward for doing, but I'm sure it was something stupid...like not leaving work early for a week. Which, by the way, is where I've been!

I am desperately seeking a new job. After 2 and a half years of breaking my back and getting no where, I think it's time for something new. I'm always envious of people who seem fine with switching jobs every few months. I can't make a relationship last more than a year, but I can stay at the same job site for most of my college experience. Time to move on and move up! But first, to focus on enjoying summer and my time away from campus and my occasional days off from the time clock...

Over the past couple of weeks, I've spent my days off at two different zoos, an outdoor festival, seeing several movies, eating ice cream on late nights, and taking walks to read sidewalk poetry and clear my head of boys and regrets.

I spent this morning at Como Zoo with my best friend, and then headed over to a cafe to enjoy a veggie burger and her good company. It's boiling hot out today and I found out that faux-leather shorts are an absolute horror to wear in the heat. I guess I will be keeping these guys for cooler weather...

The shirt is from Heritage 1981, which I bought on sale for $5 maybe three or four years ago. I think that today was maybe my first day ever wearing it and required lots of sunscreen. I don't seem to wear bold colour too often, so today is an exception, and mixing in black as a neutral was a necessity.

I have a few days off this week and am hoping that the weather is beautiful so that not only can I update the blog more, but so that I can also go on bike rides, drink bubble tea, and stay out late. I've also been needing to visit the local library and harass the librarian about why the book I ordered 5 weeks ago never came in... Have a lovely day, everyone!

Love the top. By the way it's not you that doesn't seem to make a relationship work, it's just that relationship wasn't for you. Love the top. Oh to be young again lol

I always love your little shorts outfits. That blue top is super pretty and the faux leather shorts look so cool with it. It's too bad they're horrible for the heat because they look so cute on you.
Also your hair looks awesome here. I love all the curls in your hair so much!

Chloe, your curls are looking gorgeous! The days off sound lovely as well. I just love being outside whenever I can. Even if I'm not doing anything, I feel fulfilled at the end of a day when I've spent most of it in the sunshine!
